Students in a digital photo shoot in photography class
Cullman High School

Students learn to use photography as way to explore and experiment with creative ideas that provide opportunities for personal growth in the areas of critical thinking, reflection and more.

At CHS we recognize that creating, presenting, responding, and making-connections will encourage critical thinking, create meaning, and allow for reflection & evaluation. Our visual arts: photography classes provide students with the opportunity to understand how photography communicates ideas and allows for self-expression. Through continuous exploration and experimentation, this course provides students with a comprehensive study of analog photography, elements, and principles of design; aesthetics; criticism; art/photography history; evaluation of photographic artwork; proper care and storage of analog photography supplies; integration of appropriate media and techniques; communication of ideas; solution of artistic problems to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of photography.
