Mrs. Sarah Jane Skinner

Welcome to the Cullman High School Choir Department! I am Sarah Jane Skinner, and I am the director of the CMS and CHS choirs. I am married to Tyler Skinner who is a K-6th grade music teacher/choir director in the Thompson school system in Alabaster. I grew up in Vestavia Hills, Alabama and attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in vocal music education.  I was a member of the Harding University Chorus, and through this group, I was blessed with many opportunities to perform across America and Europe.  Although my true expertise is in traditional choral music, I also have experience with dance and musical theatre, and Mr. Cook and I work together on all of the major musical theatre productions at CHS.

We are engaged in building a top notch choir program at CHS that allows Cullman students the opportunity to sing many different kinds of music, from classical music to pop music. Our program engages in multiple performances each year all over the community and the United States. As a teacher, my goal is to promote student learning and confidence through music. I hope to help my students form and develop a passion in this art that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. No matter your singing experience, we would LOVE to have you join one of our groups!
